- Flood Modelling & Analysis: Developing, running, and maintaining hydraulic and hydrological models (e.g., TUFLOW, WBNM, HEC-RAS) to simulate flood behaviour, including mainstream flooding and overland flow.
- Floodplain Management: Implementing the State Government's Flood Risk Management Manual to create flood studies, mapping, and management plans.
- Planning & Development Review: Assessing development applications (DAs) and planning proposals for flood risks to ensure they align with local council policies.
- Risk Assessment: Evaluating flood hazard, vulnerability, and risk to life and property for various scenarios, including climate change impacts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Consulting with internal teams, state agencies and the community to communicate flood risk and mitigation measures.
- Technical Reporting: Preparing detailed technical reports for flood studies, risk management studies, and mitigation option feasibility.

You are a technically capable Flood Modeller with experience in civil infrastructure or urban development projects. To be successful in this role you will have:
- Qualifications: Relevant engineering degree (Civil or Environmental). Chartered status or seeking equivalent professional accreditation advantageous.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in flood hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and floodplain management, often in a consulting or local government context, most likely in consulting engineering or a similar local/state government role, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Software Proficiency: Professional experience with TUFLOW (1D, 2D, combined 1D/2D) and GIS tools (ArcGIS/QGIS) is critical is an essential criterion.
- Hydrologic Analysis: Experience in Hydrologic analysis (e.g., RORB, RAFTS, etc.) and flood modelling with other hydraulic modelling packages such as HEC-RAS is desirable.
- Team Player: An ability to work on multidisciplinary projects and substantial experience in (or a desire to gain exposure to) dealing with clients and business development.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual (2023) and Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) Guidelines.
