JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Strategy & National Accounts is a senior commercial leader responsible for shaping and executing Humacyte's national market strategy while owning the company's most critical health system and payer relationships. This executive will bridge long-range strategic planning with hands-on account management, driving adoption of Humacyte's ATEV platform across trauma, vascular surgery, and emerging therapeutic indications.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that will partner directly with the Chief Commercial Officer, Medical Affairs, and the executive leadership team to accelerate commercial growth and build the infrastructure for sustainable national scale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Commercial Strategy

  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of Humacyte's national commercial strategy, including market segmentation, prioritization of therapeutic areas, and competitive positioning.
  • Translate corporate goals and clinical milestones into actionable commercial plans with clear KPIs, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor competitive intelligence, market dynamics, and reimbursement landscape; synthesize insights into strategic recommendations for the CCO and executive team.
  • Partner with Finance to develop revenue forecasts, account-level projections, and scenario models that inform operational planning and board-level reporting.

National Accounts

  • Own and manage relationships with the company's highest-priority national accounts, including large integrated delivery networks (IDNs), academic medical centers, Veterans Affairs health systems, and regional trauma networks.
  • Lead contract negotiations and pull-through strategies with GPOs, IDNs, and government procurement channels to secure formulary inclusion and preferred access agreements.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships (C-suite, VP of Surgery, Trauma Medical Directors) at key institutions to drive adoption and expand utilization across service lines.
  • Develop account plans with measurable targets for penetration, volume growth, and expanded indication use; review progress weekly with field and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Medical/Regulatory Affairs to ensure appropriate coverage, coding, and reimbursement frameworks are in place at target accounts.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of national account managers and strategic account directors; establish clear performance expectations and a culture of accountability.
  • Serve as a key commercial voice in cross-functional forums involving Medical Affairs, Clinical, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and R&D — ensuring commercial readiness aligns with pipeline and operational milestones.
  • Partner with Marketing on value proposition development, health economic messaging, and customer-facing tools that support national account conversations.
  • Represent the commercial organization in business development discussions, partnership evaluations, and potential expansion into international markets.

Operations & Reporting

  • Establish and manage a rigorous cadence of account reviews, pipeline reporting, and forecast updates using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to ensure full visibility into account status and growth trajectory.
  • Present quarterly business reviews to the CCO and executive leadership team, including account performance, strategic progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage the national accounts budget, ensuring disciplined allocation of resources aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Develop and refine standard operating processes for contracting, account onboarding, and ongoing account support.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • 15+ years of progressive commercial experience in the medical device, biologics, or regenerative medicine industry, with at least 5 years in a national accounts or strategic accounts leadership role.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing relationships with large IDNs, academic medical centers, and government health systems (VA, DoD) at the executive level.
  • Deep experience navigating GPO contracting, IDN formulary processes, and federal procurement channels.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute national commercial strategies that translate into measurable revenue growth.
  • Strong financial acumen; experience building revenue models, account-level forecasts, and business cases for executive and board audiences.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performance commercial teams; a track record of attracting, retaining, and promoting talent.
  • Excellent executive presence and communication skills — able to influence at the C-suite level both internally and externally.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, commercially nascent environment where strategic plans must be built alongside execution.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in surgical specialties — particularly vascular surgery, trauma, or wound care — with a working knowledge of the hospital procurement and credentialing environment.
  • Familiarity with FDA-approved biologics or tissue-engineered products and the unique commercial challenges of establishing a new therapeutic category.
  • Prior experience at a company navigating the transition from clinical-stage to commercial launch, including building commercial infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory to align commercial strategy with clinical evidence generation and reimbursement timelines.
  • Existing network of relationships across major IDNs, VA health systems, and trauma/vascular surgery centers of excellence.
