Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for performing advanced inventory management and instrument tracking system activities in support of sterile processing operations. Serves as a technical resource for reusable medical device inventory, tracking system configuration, instrument database maintenance, and manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU) application while ensuring inventory accuracy, operational readiness, and regulatory compliance.Does this position require Patient Care? Essential Functions:
Performs all responsibilities of the Inventory Technician I role.
Independently creates, updates, and maintains instrument records, tray configurations, count sheets, and workflow elements within the instrument tracking system.
Reviews and applies manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU) to support accurate inventory records, tracking system configurations, and reprocessing requirements.
Troubleshot inventory discrepancies, tracking system issues, instrument identification concerns, and documentation variances.
Serves as a resource to staff regarding reusable medical device inventory, tracking system functionality, and inventory-related processes.
Coordinates complex instrument repair activities and assists with evaluation of repair, replacement, and inventory maintenance needs.
Maintains competency in sterile processing operations and may support department operations as needed.
Assists with training and onboarding activities related to inventory management processes and tracking system utilization.
Participates in inventory-related improvement initiatives, system updates, and implementation activities.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
Licenses and Credentials: Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or C.S.P.D.T - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. required;
Experience: Instrument Tech experience 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Processes specialty and general instruments.
Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledgeable of all facility cleaning procedures and agents used during the cleaning process.
Knowledgeable of the MSDS and maintains the book according to CDC, AORN, TJC, state, and federal standards.
