Job Description:
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Certifying Staff Quality Management Inspector to join our team based in Sterling, VA (near Dulles airport).You will be part of a team which focuses on Product Assurance requirements and Regulations, Inspection Plan and/or drawings and/or specifications linked to the activity. From building to servicing the next generation of aerospace, our team focuses on quality, productivity and efficiency. Located just five miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, and 30 miles from the U.S. Capitol, this site serves as our major parts distribution hub in the Americas. The facility is a 24/7 fulfillment center, with an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support desk, and Quality Assurance (QA) operations. To best support our customers, our 250,000-square-foot warehouse features a brand new technology called Autostore, aiming at increasing productivity.
Responsibilities include the following.
Material Inspection:
Using existing aerospace knowledge and expertise inspect varieties of finished products to ensure conformance with FAA/EASA Part 21 specifications and established quality standards, including customer requirements
Perform first article inspections on aerospace components and GSE tools. Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information
Review, analyze, and approve aerospace articles that have been maintained under FAA/EASA Part 145 regulations and/or received special certification processes
Perform EASA Part-21 inspection procedures and issue EASA Form 1’s on all outgoing NEW Material. All inspections shall be performed in accordance with Airbus quality policies and SAP inspection plans. Accept the responsibility for a rotating 24-hour “On-Call” shift schedule
Issue Discrepancy Reports and Unserviceable Tags on non-conforming material. Monitor and follow up of storage conditions on all Spares material (new and used). Assist in the resolution of customer complaints concerning Proprietary Parts and Supplier quality problems
Ensure quality system integrity. Inspectors incur legal and liability issues for the company when creating and signing various airworthiness certificates and documents
Records Traceability:
Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information
Document and record non-conformance process issues concerning business operations
Quality Representative:
Represent the Quality Management Department during internal meetings, working committees and modification programs
Assist other team members and cross-functional partners with questions and issues related to quality management criteria
Other duties as assigned:
Interface with Airbus Material Logistics and Suppliers (SATAIR Hamburg, Germany) in the process of reporting, investigating and resolving material non-conformances and quality issues
Perform inspections at customer facilities and satellite locations.
Interface with SAP Key User regarding electronic data processing functions and systems support for Quality Management functions/operation.
Qualified Experience, Training, Licensure/Certifications :
A&P (Airframe and Power Plant) license or Military Maintenance Certification is required (or its equivalent)
5+ years of maintenance experience and knowledge of aircraft operations, systems and practices
Familiarization with aerospace quality control and quality assurance systems
Aerospace Design – knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of aerospace components. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and ICA operating
Quality Management Analysis – experience in conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance

Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: able to hear and participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment .
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
Salary range based on the required profile: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00/year. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
