Managing Director - Retail & Distribution Growth
Job Description
About the Role
UDig is hiring a Growth Leader to build revenue across retail and distribution. This is a relationship-driven seat: we're looking for someone who brings established connections in retail or distribution and the track record to turn them into business, then build from there.
This is a growth role, not an account-management role. Your mandate is to open new enterprise logos and create momentum where you already have credibility. Our business runs on referrals and reputation, not cold outreach — which is why the relationships you've built over your career matter so much here.
We're consultative, not transactional. We sell outcomes, not hours: every engagement starts with the business result a client is trying to reach and earns it with evidence — and you'll be the person who makes that case credibly. The way we deliver those outcomes is changing fast, too. We're leaning hard into AI-accelerated, agentic delivery, so you'll carry a genuinely differentiated story into the market while sharpening your own command of where digital products are headed.
What You'll Do
- Translate your network and reputation into net-new retail and distribution clients.
- Open new logos through your relationships, referrals, and partnerships.
- Frame each opportunity around the client's business outcome — speed, adoption, revenue, risk — and translate it into scope, team, and approach with our delivery leaders.
- Represent UDig's value proposition in executive conversations: how we close the last 20% of the platform gap that platforms alone can't.
- Expand the relationships you win into new buying centers and larger problems.
- Carry a bookings target and manage your pipeline with rigor and honest forecasting.
- Build credibility with CIOs, CTOs, and EVPs of IT as a peer on modernization, platform adoption, and what comes after implementation.
What You Bring
- Established relationships in retail, distribution, or retail-enabled industries — buyers and influencers who know your work and value your perspective.
- Demonstrated success opening, growing, and sustaining enterprise accounts you've personally carried to multi-year, multi-million-dollar scale.
- A network-driven approach to growth: you generate referrals because of how you've delivered, and you turn one trusted relationship into many.
- 8+ years in consultative business development or client leadership within a digital product, technology, or consulting services firm.
- The ability to articulate why outcomes matter more than hours, and to make that distinction real for a skeptical buyer.
- Fluency in enterprise IT and transformation conversations — comfortable holding the room on modernization, agentic delivery, and adoption without a solutions engineer beside you.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings, pitches, and industry events.
Why UDig
- We're the focused alternative to the big systems integrators: senior people, faster cycles, and accountability for the outcome.
- We deliver with AI, not around it — agentic development and AI-accelerated engineering that compress cycles and sharpen our outcomes story. You will be selling an edge most firms are still assembling.
- We lead with proof — real modernization and delivery results, not slideware.
- Two decades of relationships and delivery mean clients come to us and stay.
- Hybrid and flexible, with 20 days PTO plus 8 holidays, your birthday and work anniversary, and a $1,500 annual learning budget.
