Hybrid Work Arrangement

This position follows a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 2 days onsite, though this requirement may vary based on business and operational needs.
Primary Focus
We are seeking to fill a current opening on our Health Economics team. Under the direction of the Manager, Health Economics, the Health Economics Research Officer is responsible for participating in the development of economic models and economic evaluations of moderate complexity for various health interventions (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, health systems). The Health Economics Research Officer is also responsible for conducting data analyses related to cost minimization and critical appraisals as needed.
What do the daily responsibilities look like?
On any given day, the Health Economics Research Officer will:
lead cost minimization analyses and economic evaluations of moderate complexity to ensure that accurate, high-quality reports are completed within timelines
complete the economic report templates independently, clearly conveying the technical information, issues and limitations, and conclusions in an accurate and clear manner
work closely with the clinical research team to ensure that both economic and clinical reports reflect the same information and conclusions
seek background information on the condition and intervention as necessary to facilitate the research; where methods used in the customers’ request are not familiar, the Health Economics Research Officer will seek guidance from the Manager, Health Economics, to gain better understanding of concepts
represent the economic team at expert advisory meetings, team meetings and teleconferences; and is prepared to respond to any questions or issues requiring clarification
undertake professional development to ensure current knowledge of economic methodologies for the assessment of health technologies as well as clinical concepts required to conduct economic evaluations
provide a summary and critical appraisal of relevant published health interventions and economic review articles for inclusion into economic reports as directed
develop computer-based economic models to support economic evaluations and budget impact analysis, as required
perform quality check and data validation, as required for economic reports.
Is this the right role for you?
The Health Economics Research Officer will likely have:
a graduate degree in economics, mathematics, or equivalent, training in the economic evaluation of health technologies, and a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in health services research; additional related experience may serve as a suitable equivalent for completion of postsecondary education
an intermediate level skill in performing health economic and pharmacoeconomic analysis, with skill in computer-based economic and statistical modelling
solid analytical skills
advanced computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
excellent writing and oral communications skills, as well as good interpersonal skills
strong attentiveness to detail
the ability to perform work as scheduled
good project management skills
willingness to undertake training in systematic reviews and meta-analysis or other training as required
able to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
