Expected hourly range of $20.41 to $22.68, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
Primary Purpose of Position
The Commercial HVAC Apprentice will provide support to the Commercial Service operations. Under general supervision of a licensed HVAC technician, the Commercial HVAC Apprentice will assist with installing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems while gaining familiarity with tools, materials, equipment, and job site procedures. This role participates in a formal apprenticeship training program designed to prepare individuals to become skilled HVAC technicians through a combination of on-the-job training, rotational field assignments, and related classroom instruction.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
- Assist with repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of commercial HVAC systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting HVAC issues involving electrical, gas, and refrigeration components.
- Support component replacement and system testing under the guidance of licensed HVAC technicians.
- Participate in preventive maintenance activities as part of training and development.
- Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and compliance training.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Accurately document work orders, parts usage, and service activities using company systems.
- Order parts and participate in online and classroom training.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
- Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members.
- Support job-site cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active Maryland State HVAC Apprenticeship License
- Eligibility to meet Company driving standards, including possession of a valid driver's license
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, diagrams, and work orders
- Effective communication skills verbally and in writing across all levels
- Possess basic math, measurement, and computer skills
- Willing and available to work overtime when required
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of HVAC systems, including refrigeration cycle, electrical and gas components
Preferred Qualifications
- Gas Fitter Trainee or Apprentice License
- Graduate of an accredited vocational or trade school or a 1 year of related field experience
- Hands-on experience with commercial HVAC systems
