Job Description
Istituto Marangoni Mumbai is seeking an experienced and passionate Product Design Lecturer to join its Mumbai campus on a part-time basis from August 2026.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an industry professional to contribute to the development of the next generation of designers while remaining actively engaged with professional practice.
You will teach approximately 2–4 classes per week within the Product Design programmes and contribute to the academic and creative development of undergraduate students.
Teaching will combine theoretical knowledge, design methodology, technical expertise, and industry insight, supporting students through research, concept development, prototyping, and project realization.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging lectures, workshops, tutorials, and critiques in Product Design.
Guide students through the complete design process, from research and ideation to prototyping and presentation.
Support students in developing creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Prepare lesson plans, project briefs, learning materials, and assessments.
Evaluate student work according to institutional assessment criteria.
Participate in academic meetings, assessment panels, and student reviews.
Integrate contemporary industry practices, sustainability principles, and emerging technologies into teaching.
Support interdisciplinary collaboration across design-related disciplines where appropriate.
Maintain high academic standards and contribute to a stimulating learning environment.
Professional & Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of professional industry experience in product design or a closely related field.
Previous teaching, lecturing, training, or mentoring experience in higher education, design education, or professional development environments.
Strong portfolio demonstrating professional design projects and development processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Strong understanding of contemporary design methodologies, materials, manufacturing processes, sustainability, and user-centred design.
Experience working with international brands, design consultancies, innovation teams, or entrepreneurial ventures.
Familiarity with digital design tools, prototyping technologies, and emerging design practices.
Experience supervising student projects, dissertations, or capstone projects.
Industry recognition through exhibitions, publications, awards, patents, or professional collaborations
