Job Description

Assist the principal and manages assigned campus operations such that all students regardless of socioeconomic factors are prepared for accelerated learning to compete in a global economy. Serve as the leader for teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to increase teacher effectiveness and drive student achievement; develop and lead the campus professional development plan. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential Functions

1. Provide professional development for the development of innovative instructional programs; supports effective instruction through demonstration lessons/instructional assistance.
2. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Support their active involvement in the decision-making process.
3. Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school's academic success.
4. Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
5. Coordinate and implement campus testing administrations and conduct the training of campus personnel.
6. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation feedback conferences.
7. Administer the designated appraisal system; serve as second appraiser as needed for designated teacher appraisal system.
8. Provide professional development for campus staff tied to campus goals, relevant student data, and current formative assessment patterns.
9. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
10. Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal. Direct the work of teachers, instructional paraprofessionals, and others as assigned.
11. Comply with Young Women's Leadership Academy memorandum of understanding job responsibilities.
12. Demonstrate high quality customer service; build rapport/relationship with the consumer.
13. Demonstrate cultural competence in interactions with others; is respectful of co-workers; communicate and act as a team player; promote teamwork. Respond and act appropriately in confrontational situations.
14. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Other Responsibilities

1. Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
2. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
3. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Master's degree; Mid-management/Principalship/Superintendency certification; Professional Development and Appraisal System and ILT/ILD certification; three (3} years of classroom teaching experience; bilingual preferred, depending on the needs of the campus and the campus community. Thorough understanding of school operations; strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate campus support operations.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Able to maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, and lifting; movement of small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment. Occasional District-wide travel and statewide travel. Texas or New Mexico driver's license; insurable by the District's auto liability insurance carrier. Subject to the District's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation.
