Overview

Advise and assist members in the establishment of estate plans and counsel members in estate planning and trust administration.
Serve as corporate trustee and/or fiduciary for America First members, including estate settlement.
Counsel members in financial, asset management, and tax matters, including the preparation of tax returns, and advise on life and property insurance matters.
Promote, sell, and administer trust, investment management, retirement, and IRA accounts.
Coordinate, train, support, and develop branch trust staff.
Support the fiduciary accounts team with the review of document cases as presented (POAs, conservatorships, trusts, and wills); coordinate with other support as needed, including internal and external legal counsel.

Responsibilities

1. Counsels’ members in estate planning and trust administration.
2. Advises and assists members in the establishment of their estate plans.
3. Prepares trust account opening and closing documents.
4. Establishes and maintains trust beneficiary information.
5. Provides financial and asset counseling regarding estate, retirement, and financial matters.
6. Administrates members’ trust documents, assets, and accounts.
7. Assists in the preparation and execution of personal trust and estate planning documents.
8. Prepares and tracks all client directives and authorizations.
9. Works closely with assigned portfolio manager to analyze investment portfolios and reiterate investment recommendations and economic forecasts.
10. Applies for and maintains EIN numbers.
11. Assists and provides counsel in tax matters and in the preparation of tax returns.
12. Assists with the preparation of personal and fiduciary tax returns.
13. Establishes and controls trust, tax, real estate, and contract files within policy guidelines.
14. Manages IRA accounts and calculates RMD’S for member accounts.
15. Reviews statements with clients and maintains statement files.
16. Pays bills, orders distribution checks, orders ach transfers, wire transfers.
17. Provides estate settlement services within policy guidelines.
18. Aids in the prevention of financial elder abuse.
19. Executes and review daily transactions for trust accounts.
20. Coordinates communication and activity between America First and trust service provider, Members Trust Company.
21. Prepares receipt and delivery documents and distributes estate and trust assets.
22. Retrieves America First records and account information.
23. Resolve all operational issues and delays ranging from the simple to the complex, to protect and serve the members’ interests.
 
Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional administration of real estate.
1. Administration of real property assets, i.e.: reviews deeds, monitors and pays property taxes, monitors and pays property insurance premium payments. 
2. Prepares real estate documents in coordination with policies of trust company.
3. Collects and process rent payments when applicable.
4. Completes real estate inspections and reviews according to policies of trust company.
5. Reviews closing documents and orders appraisals.
6. Oversees and coordinates the improvement of real estate when applicable.
7. Works with realtors in the listing and selling of real estate.
8. Coordinates estate auctions, estate liquidations with third party vendors.
 
Responsible for Training and Coordinating Branch Trust Staff.
1. Provides training, support, and guidance for branch trust staff.
2. Oversees trust account discussions at the branch level and encourages development of branch trust account pipelines.
3. Coordinates training for branch trust staff, providing support and serving as the subject matter expert in estate planning, administration and trust related legal, tax, title and ownership, and real estate related questions.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Five years’ Trust Administration or related experience required.
 
Knowledge:
• Some background in Fiduciary Law, Trusts, Retirement Accounts, Financial Planning, Retirement Planning, Investments, Individual Income Tax, Real Estate, Personal Budgeting, Life Insurance, Property Insurance, Casualty Insurance, Sales, Negotiation.
• Must be excellent at both written and verbal communication.
• Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook and experience in trust related software.

Preferred Qualifications:
An additional, three to five years in the following fields strongly recommended:
• Trust and real estate law
• Accounting
• Insurance
 
The following certifications are strongly desired:
• Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor
• Certified Financial Analysis
• Accredited Estate Planner
• Certified Financial Planner
