
Cook (Summer Contract - Fishing Lodge Setting)
Job Description
WHAT'S THE JOB?
The Lunch/Dinner Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking and serving meals family style according to the posted menu, under the direction of the Chef and Sous Chef.
This is a short-term contract between June-August, requiring the individual to remain at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks and beverages are provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing, cooking and serving scratch made meals family style according to the posted menu, under the direction of the Chef and Sous Chef, including soups, sandwiches, pastas and proteins
- Adhering to all food safety standards, ensuring proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients and equipment
- Monitoring and recording temperatures for food items, as well as logging all necessary information to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
- Removing all used pots, pans, utensils, etc., to ware washing area
- Performing end-of-shift cleaning, sweeping, and mopping of workstation
Physical Demands:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
- Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
- Work with arms above shoulder height
Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food service industry
- Valid Food Safety certification is required
- Possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional knife skills, and a robust skill set in cooking from scratch in large volumes
- Ability and desire to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team player
- Capacity to stand for long periods of time, able to lift, carry, and move heavy items, such as pots, pans, cases of ingredients
- Passion for the outdoors with the ability to commit to the full duration of the work term while remaining at the lodge for the full duration
- Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3
- on of all food supplies.

Work schedule and remuneration:
The Lunch/Dinner Cook will remain at the lodge for the full duration of the contract between June 20 - August 22 (approx.). All travel, accommodations, meals, beverages and snacks are provided. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $19.50 per hour.
