BACKGROUND:
Oncology Business Unit (OBU) EUCAN is a key contributor to the continued and future growth of our Oncology business at AstraZeneca. We seek dedicated commercial leadership for our franchises across functions and markets, maximizing the regional potential of our leading Oncology portfolio, delivering commercial excellence in close collaboration with a wide variety of in- and external partners. Our regional organization is well set and empowered to operate as a key catalyst between our global business strategies and the local healthcare systems, enabling and evolving a dynamic and swift commercial, access and medical implementation in the respective markets.
THE ROLE:
The Regional Franchise Head - OBU EUCAN is a foundation role for the success of the OBU EUCAN region. You are accountable for leading the development and profitable management of your respective brand / therapeutic area (TA) with full accountability for commercialization. You have a leadership role within a matrix working model between global and local markets and across functions.
Brand Commercialization:
- Ensuring local market launch readiness for new products and indications within your TA in EU6 and Canada.
- Provide regional input into global commercialization plans to ensure that OBU EUCAN commercialization priorities are appropriately considered, visible and supported.
TA/Brand Strategy:
- Be the voice of the EUCAN region in the development of 3-year global strategies and brand plans, representing a key part of the global business with unique regional needs.
Business Performance:
- Accountable for the business performance of your brand/TA within EU6 and Canada, including the development of the financial narrative to senior leaders on performance, revenue forecasts, and resource deployment.
Capabilities & People:
- Identify and support the building of local market capabilities that drive innovative commercialization, including go-to-market strategies and above-brand goals
- You are a career mentor for key talent within your respective business area
Strategic Projects:
- You are a strategic and experienced business leader who actively contributes to key initiatives and above-brand projects within the EUCAN region and the broader OBU.
ESSENTIAL FOR THE ROLE:
- Bachelors degree in business or life sciences. MBA / Ph.D. desired
- Leadership experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with accountability and a proven track record for delivering on business goals in a major healthcare market
- Broad commercial experience with demonstrated success across pre-launch planning, launch execution, HTA validation, and long-term business planning
- Profound understanding of drug development and commercialization in Oncology
- Solid grasp of ongoing paradigm changes and future trends in healthcare commercialization
- Demonstrated ability to build teams and achieve goals by delivering through others
- Proven experience and knowledge of a broad base of external partners and customers including patients, prescribers, payors, providers and in/out license partners.
- P&L management experience and ability to build a financial narrative
- Experienced with key global regulations in the field of pharmaceutical compliance and commercialization, including pharmacovigilance
