Texas A&M University's Department of Chemistry is seeking an Administrative Coordinator I to provide a wide variety of administrative, secretarial, and program support functions on behalf of departmental faculty. As a member of the Department's Center for Administrative Support, this position, under general supervision, coordinates administrative operations, communications, travel, financial and research-related activities, event logistics, and instructional support while serving as a key resource for faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
Opportunities to Contribute
Manages administrative communications, correspondence, documentation, presentations, and data management activities while providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students.
Coordinates complex travel arrangements, itineraries, leave requests, and reimbursement processing for faculty, research personnel, distinguished visitors, and external stakeholders.
Plans, coordinates, and provides logistical and administrative support for seminars, symposia, conferences, workshops, and other departmental events while serving as the primary liaison for participants and stakeholders.
Coordinates research administration activities including budgeting, procurement, personnel transactions, financial account management, grant proposal preparation, post-award administration, and funding agency reporting.
Supports research dissemination efforts by managing publication-related administrative activities, proofreading materials, and coordinating website maintenance and updates.
Provides administrative support for academic courses by assisting students, scheduling appointments, maintaining records, preparing instructional materials, and coordinating examination logistics.
Identifies, develops, and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, and program effectiveness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience in office administration.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Interpersonal and communication skills.
Planning and organization skills.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
Schedule: May require working during the night and on weekends.
