Job Description
This position is responsible for the oversight and development of the Quality Control program. The Quality Control Manager will provide coaching and training for staff members to help drive departmental productivity and achieve strategic objectives. In addition, the Quality Control Manager must proactively monitor loan level testing results, and provide detailed, actionable feedback that addresses areas of elevated risk and improve loan quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for policies, procedures, and practices for mortgage loan quality.• Monitor changes to agency, government, and investor quality control requirements and ensure the Company’s QC program remains aligned with applicable expectations.• Maintain and update the Quality Control Plan, standard operating procedures, tracking logs, reverification process, and invoicing system to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.• Develop and implement quality control strategies to ensure loan quality meets agency, investor, and insurer requirements.• Acts as pivotal point of contact for internal and external Quality Control audits, including any vendor relationships.• Provide QC staff with an appropriate level of guidance, coaching, and training to meet departmental objectives.• Ensure all agency, investor, and regulatory reporting is completed on or before required deadlines.• Lead monthly Quality Review meetings with leadership team to analyze loan-level testing results, assess quality trends, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance compliance and alignment with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, USDA, VA, and private-label lending requirements.• Analyze audit results to help determine the potential root cause of deficiencies and escalate trending concerns to the leadership team. • Assist with red flag reviews as requested by leadership and provide a summary of findings for each loan once the risk investigation has concluded.• Other projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the mortgage industry• 5+ years of experience in Mortgage Origination Compliance and/or Quality Control• Advanced knowledge of agency and government mortgage guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA• Advanced understanding of mortgage lending guidelines and federal and state consumer protection laws, rules and regulations including, but not exclusive of, Truth-in-Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, Fair Lending laws, and Advertising laws.• Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to deliver presentations.• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving industry standards and responsibilities.
OPERATIONAL & TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
• QC vendor management experience.• Strong working knowledge of ICE’s Encompass LOS.• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.• Comprehensive understanding of automated underwriting systems and interpretation of agency underwriting findings.
