
Commissioning Specialist Supervisor
Job Description
As the Commissioning Specialist Supervisor, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading the execution of the office commissioning specialist group. You will support the Operations and Engineering Manager while serving as a field change agent to help improve overall communication, project execution, and efficiency with the Commissioning Specialist. WHAT YOU’LL DO As the Commissioning Specialist Supervisor, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading the execution of the office commissioning specialist group. You will support the Operations and Engineering Manager while serving as a field change agent to help improve overall communication, project execution, and efficiency with the Commissioning Specialist. Day-To-Day Responsibilities: Support the local office Engineering Management as an SME and escalation resource in coordination with local Operations Management Provide leadership and guidance to local commissioning specialist team Share, teach, and reinforce the use of AVI-SPL standard practice across the team Assist the project management team in proper project planning and forecasting, schedule development, and resource needs Mentor and support Commissioning Specialists through their development plans and training; provide direction where deficiencies exist Act as an escalation point for the team to help resolve project issues Contribute to and support process improvement initiatives Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints Test point-to-point functionality of systems, integrated systems, and perform troubleshooting Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation Load, test, and troubleshoot control system programs (AMX/Crestron/QSC) and code for DSP systems Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network Provide Project Manager documented test results from system testing and commissioning Perform client training and final job documentation where needed Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager Create, track, and complete a project Punchlist WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Must-Haves: Ability to mentor, educate, and develop members of the team Ability to understand the team and provide solutions for optimal performance Communicate and interact with internal employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional and timely manner Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving skills Excellent capability to switch tasks while adapting to changing priorities Energized self-starter capable of working and thinking independently and ensuring to meet deadlines Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient with test and calibration equipment Support user acceptance testing Minor programming capability (AMX/Crestron/QSC) – changes and troubleshooting Ability to diagnose complex system problems Knowledge of Advanced signal flow for audio, video and control Understand IP networking Advanced PC proficiency Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent Nice-To-Haves: Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred Minimum 5 years of AV Installation experience preferred A four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco TelePresence, etc.) - both hardware and software AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred WHY YOU’LL LIKE WORKING HERE Medical benefits, including vision and dental Paid holidays, sick days, and personal days Enjoyable and dynamic company culture Training and professional development opportunities MORE ABOUT US AVI-SPL is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
