Description
Naik Consulting Group is currently seeking a Junior Communication Engineer (EIT). The Junior Communications Engineer will support the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of communications and low-voltage systems for large-scale infrastructure and transportation projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fire alarm systems, network systems, and low-voltage communications, and is comfortable working in a multidisciplinary construction and engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, review, and coordinate fire alarm systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
- Develop and review communications and low-voltage system designs, including structured cabling, fiber optics, CCTV, access control, PA/VMS, and network infrastructure
- Support infrastructure and transportation projects such as transit facilities, tunnels, stations, roadways, bridges, and related facilities
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical proposals
- Provide construction-phase support including site inspections, testing and commissioning support, and system acceptance
- Coordinate system interfaces with IT, electrical, and other building systems
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements
- Participate in meetings with clients, agencies, designers, and contractors
- Assist with cost estimates, schedules, and risk assessments related to communications systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in communications or low-voltage systems within construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, NEC, local AHJ requirements)
- Experience supporting construction management or design-build projects
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Experience on transportation or infrastructure projects (transit, rail, roadway, aviation, or utilities)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- NICET certification (Fire Alarm or related disciplines)
- Familiarity with public agency projects and compliance requirements
- Experience with system integration and testing/commissioning processes
