Position Overview
As a Sr. Manufacturing Technician, you will perform a multi-craft role that will assist maintenance, processing and packaging operations to repair and facilitate mass-production of roasted, ground, and/or flavored coffee products. You will be responsible for coordinating with operators, technicians and managers to maintain production efficiency.
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Follows all safety (Community Coffee and Government), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and sanitation rules and regulations and procedures while maintaining an efficient operation.
Responsible for sanitation and maintenance of self, equipment, and work area to have knowledge of and to comply with CFR 110 - Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Global Food Safety Initiative Standards and OSHA 1910 standards
Operates several types of packaging and processing equipment as production and scheduling needs require.
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production equipment and attainment of productivity requirements of each assigned production line including quality checks, adherence to production schedules, equipment changeovers and safety. These duties include but are not limited to:
setting up, operating, and shutting down equipment according to production requirements, timelines, and manufacturer specifications.
performing quality checks as specified by established guidelines and communicating with supervision and the quality assurance department when checks are out of specification.
performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment to maximize machine reliability.
assisting in emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment and performing scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment.
performing technician skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
diagnosing problems, replacing or repairing parts, testing and making adjustments.
using a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
detecting faulty operations and defective material and reporting those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
repairing or replacing defective parts.
installing special functional and structural parts in devices.
lubricating and cleaning parts
starting devices to test performance
Demonstrates the ability to initiate startups and shut downs in assigned areas by preparing equipment and materials.Operates, monitors, troubleshoots, and adjusts various equipment parameters to maintain target efficiencies and quality standards
Submits a daily production report and maintains up to date equipment log, detailing settings that may have changed and/or listing steps taken during trouble shooting. Records production output, downtime reasons and durations, run hours, and other data as required.
Assists with collection and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
Provides data-driven recommendations aligning with strategic business objectives and company goals.
Assists with development and/or revision of standard operating procedures and working practices while ensuring worker compliance with company standards.
Reviews operations reports and coordinates with operation, manufacturing, quality and maintenance to resolve problems, minimize costs, and prevent operational delays.
Leads and participates in continuous improvement efforts to raise manufacturing performance to meet critical Plant Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost KPI’s.
Actively works with maintenance in the repair of machinery by troubleshooting, assisting with repair activities, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.Performs other flexible Operator duties including but not limited to: clean-up, bailing cardboard, working on recycle cardboard, disposal of garbage, and operating trash compactor/bailer.
Transfers raw materials via rolling hoppers, pallet jacks (electric and manual) or forklifts.
Attends all training as per Port Allen, Corporate, Federal, and State requirements
May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and 2 years of manufacturing experience OR high school diploma and 5 years’ related experience in consumer products goods manufacturing management
Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
Maintenance experience in consumer goods and any kind of baking is a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products Word Processing software
Knowledge of SAP and CMMS systems a plus
Knowledge of CFR 110, current good manufacturing practices, Global Food Safety Initiative Standards and OSHA 1910 standards
Knowledge of plumbing and electrical fundamentals
Ability to properly use basic hand tools
Familiar with industrial and mechanical terminology
