Are you a licensed medical doctor specialising in infectious diseases with humanitarian experience?
UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. Born of the British National Health Service, we’ve been working for over 30 years towards a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises or disasters hit.
As UK-Med continues to strengthen its outbreak response capacity and preparedness for potential programming in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and other humanitarian contexts, we are seeking Infectious Diseases Medical Doctors to join our Register. While this is a Register position, we will prioritise candidates with immediate or near-term availability to support our Ebola outbreak response activities in the DRC should deployment requirements arise. We will also prioritise applicants from those who speak French.
Successful candidates will have experience working in infectious diseases and outbreak settings, ideally within humanitarian, low-resource or emergency response environments. Register members are expected to be available to travel and work internationally at short notice, typically for outbreak deployments around 6 weeks with quarantine period, although longer availability would be highly desirable.
Our ideal candidates will be fully licensed Infectious Diseases Medical Doctors with the clinical expertise and operational experience required to support outbreak preparedness, investigation and response activities. This may include contributing to case management, infection prevention and control measures, disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, contact tracing activities, epidemiological analysis and technical support to local health authorities and healthcare teams.
You will be determined, high performing, compassionate and collaborative, as well as being committed to learning and supporting others to learn. Language skills will be an advantage.
At the same time UK-Med tries to provide feedback to applicants and share with them where they have fallen short in the competitive process, it may be very difficult to provide individual feedback. Especially looking at the large number of applications UK-Med receives and the multiple recruitments taking place at the same time, specifically during times of ongoing emergency surges.
