Location: A.R. Kaufman Family YMCA


 

Work Hours:  Monday-Friday, Some evenings required. 


 

Employment Type: Part Time, Contract 


 

Number of Vacancies: 1


 

Start Date: June 8, 2026 

Contract End Date: July 31, 2026

 What you will do…

You will join a dedicated, mission‑focused team committed to supporting older adults in their pursuit of health, independence, and overall well‑being. This role contributes to fostering a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where participants of all abilities can engage confidently in programs that promote active living, connection, and a strong sense of community.


The Health Management Coordinator will support the Wellness Supervisor in the following areas:


  • Support accessible wellness programs for seniors living with chronic health conditions and disabilities, including adaptive fitness and specialized health programming.
  • Coordinate weekly social sessions, preparing materials, organize spaces, and assisting participants.
  • Help plan and facilitate arts and crafts, group games, and other recreational activities.
  • Assist in creating healthy‑living educational resources by gathering information and drafting content.
  • Complete data entry to track attendance, participation trends, and program outcomes.
  • Provide general project and administrative support.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized program areas, including setup and routine checks.
  • Offer friendly, proactive assistance to participants, answering questions and guiding them through activities.
  • Contribute to a welcoming environment by preparing spaces and supporting participant comfort.

You will have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with staff and YMCA community members. 


An acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check and Standard First aid and CPR certification. Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school in the following academic studies: Kinesiology, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Applied Health Studies, Physical Education or Health and Fitness Promotion is an asset. These studies directly relate to the role by giving the applicant an opportunity to apply their knowledge in the fitness industry by interacting with participants that are actively trying to enhance their health and are able to develop resource to help participants achieve their health goals.

This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs. Please note that the applicant must meet the below criteria in order to be considered for the position.

  • The applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • The applicant must be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or a Refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Please note that international students are not eligible for this position due to the funding requirements.
