Job Description

Key Responsibilities & Contributions

  • Conduct Environmental & Data Analysis

    • Perform field investigations, surveys, studies, and research to compile and analyze environmental impact data in support of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluations.
    • Gather, compile, and analyze transportation-related demographic, economic, land use, and environmental data, including traffic counts and flow data, under general direction.
  • Develop Transportation Models & Systems

    • Create advanced transportation models for both existing and proposed systems, including:
      • Roads, bridges, highways, tunnels, and toll facilities
      • Transit, rail, freight, and aviation infrastructure
      • Bicycle and pedestrian networks
    • Review existing models and recommend strategic improvements and enhancements.
  • Leverage Advanced Analytics & Simulation

    • Utilize transportation systems, modeling tools, simulations, and data analytics to develop comprehensive studies for:
      • New system implementations
      • Strategic upgrades
      • Network re-routing initiatives
      • System performance evaluations
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

    • Design transportation surveys, exhibits, and compelling presentation materials to identify stakeholder concerns and facilitate effective public engagement.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Review

    • Review transportation plans for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Escalate legal and regulatory compliance issues as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with engineering teams to research, analyze, and resolve complex transportation design challenges at conceptual and schematic levels.
    • Collaborate with sales teams to develop proposals in response to current and prospective client Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Review draft proposals to ensure alignment with firm standards and industry, state, local, and federal requirements.
  • Client & Business Development Support

    • Meet with current and prospective clients to assess and discuss transportation design needs and future opportunities.
  • Team Contribution & Leadership

    • Contribute to additional projects and initiatives in support of team objectives and organizational goals.
    • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff.
    • Mentor junior team members, supporting their professional development and growth within the discipline and organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline. AICP, PTP, PE, CEP or approved certification in a related field. Or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline. 7 years of related experience with bachelors degree or 6 years of experience with Masters degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.


Driving Requirements

An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
Skills & Abilities

Expert knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by all transportation modes, and understanding of current transportation trends/issues, including the relative costs and benefits. Solid knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Expert knowledge of the practical application of regional and community planning. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, models, and equipment to study and/or design of movement of people, goods and services. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

USD $91,478.00
Pay Range Max

USD $160,118.00
