Job Description
Position Summary: The Plastics Utility Operator is responsible for supporting production operations by operating and supplying equipment, monitoring product quality, mixing materials, maintaining housekeeping standards, and assisting with various production-related tasks. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient manufacturing operations while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. This position is for 1st Shift: 6:00am-2:00pm. This role is required to be on-site 5-6 days at the Auburn, IN location. Responsibilities: Uphold and communicate the purpose, values, and vision of TriMas Packaging. Operate assembly and production equipment according to established procedures. Inspect and verify product quality to ensure compliance with specifications. Supply machines with materials and components to support continuous production. Mix raw materials according to work instructions and production requirements. Assist with machine startups, changeovers, and operational support as needed. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with 5S standards. Perform routine housekeeping throughout the production area. Safely handle and transport materials, finished goods, and supplies. Assist in inventory organization and material staging activities. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Report equipment issues, quality concerns, and safety hazards to supervision. Perform miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor. Essential Functions: Position is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, and varying temperatures. Work environment may involve exposure to fluctuating temperatures based on seasonal and operational conditions. Requires the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods during scheduled shifts. Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, reach, climb, and perform repetitive motions. Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment, hand tools, and material handling devices. Must be able to safely work around production equipment and machinery. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
