You will report to the Quality Assurance Manager
The Opportunity
At JBT Marel, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and test mechanical systems for food equipment machinery. You'll work with cross-functional teams to define customer needs, develop new features, and ensure designs meet specifications. You will be Part of a small but dynamic mechanical engineering team designing, updating, and modifying large high-speed bottle and can filling equipment. Primarily focused on capital equipment design and support as well as standardization and documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage BOM & drawing changes through a standard revision/Engineering Change Order (ECO) process in a PDM controlled system
- Design and develop parts and assemblies using SolidWorks. Create models, assembly drawings, & manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
- Gather detailed information on vendor supplied components and create vendor control drawings.
- Prepare any additional mechanical support needed for projects such as welding/machining fixtures, layout drawings, field installation procedures, and any other pertinent documentation.
- Convert legacy drawings from AutoCAD or .tif to SolidWorks.
- Develop subject matter expertise on assigned product line.
- Check and review drawings and documents for accuracy and errors. Ensure designs and drawings are functional and manufacturable.
- Capture meeting minutes and other notes from customer interaction to document needs of customer and changes during project.
- Has the ability to work with little direction and supports the project team in the successful completion of multiple projects.
- Actively participate in RCI to drive improvements for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, in support of company goals/objectives and to exceed customers' expectations.
- Properly track costs, including personal time and spend, to keep budgets and notify proper resources of expanded costs.
- Document sources and history of design development throughout the project.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
- Assist in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution.
- Assist in VAVE (Value Assessment, Value Engineering) events and support as needed.
- Assist in the shop and installation support work as needed. Either in the office or on site.
- Expected to interact directly with customers to define scope of work and to understand their needs and wants.
- Provide technical direction and information to customers and coworkers.
- Generate text for proposals, specifications, narratives, and other documentation.
Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing SolidWorks for 3D modeling
- Experience utilizing PDM or other drawing vault.
- AutoCAD experience preferred, not required.
- FEA and/or CFD experience preferred, not required.
- Experience using full Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Eagerness and drive to learn practical and regulatory engineering practices.
- Strong integrity to support ethical engineering decisions.
- The successful candidate must enjoy working with people; especially fellow engineering professionals, have a pleasant disposition, and a willingness to be helpful to clients and coworkers.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering tech.
- Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in beverage/packaging equipment design
Travel & Location
- You will be onsite in Eastlake, OH and travel up to 15% of the time.
