Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:
$58,171.00Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:
$62,825.00To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:
- 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
- A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.
The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

Responsible for planning, supervising, and directing the maintenance and appearance of campus grounds across multiple Aims Community College locations. Oversees turf care, landscaping, horticulture, irrigation systems, snow and ice removal, grounds equipment maintenance, and landscape improvement projects. Manages grounds staff, schedules work assignments, ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards, and maintains the college's outdoor facilities to provide a safe, attractive, and functional environment for students, employees, and visitors. The role also coordinates support for campus events, budget management, equipment procurement, and long-term grounds planning.Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Develop position descriptions based on grounds maintenance needs.
- Conduct interviews, select personnel, perform performance evaluations, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Supervise, train, evaluate, and provide technical assistance to employees.
- Offer coaching and training opportunities to enhance employees' job performance abilities. Collaborate with employees to establish goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure proper documentation.
- Set and verify employee schedules. Assign job duties based on job descriptions and the college's needs and requirements.
- Log grounds-related activities. Inspect completed assignments to ensure that work quality, adherence to operating procedures, efficiency, progress, methods and practices, safety, and other established standards and requirements are met.
- Consult and coordinate with College departments and/or community organizations to provide support services for various events, programs, official functions, recreational activities, etc.
- Collaborate with similar agencies, including city, county, governmental, school, and park grounds departments, to exchange knowledge and explore potential cost-saving strategies.
- Be available for on-call emergency and weather-related issues.
Budget:
- Develop/submit/monitor annual operating grounds budget.
- Develop/submit/monitor annual ground department capital and major maintenance project items.
- Assist in institutional planning and design projects that affect annual capital budgets.
- Establish an appropriate inventory of parts and supplies for institutional vehicles and commercial grounds equipment.
- Procure and coordinate contractual services for grounds maintenance projects.
- Prepare work plans and cost estimates for contract services.
- Schedule maintenance activity to prolong the life of older equipment, assure the usefulness and safety of equipment to minimize breakdowns, failures, and hazards.
Grounds Equipment & Operations:
- Manage, plan, coordinate, inspect, schedule, and participate in the maintenance and repair of commercial grounds equipment.
- Understand the mechanics of how grounds equipment must be used and operated.
- Assure that all safety procedures are implemented and followed.
- Supervise, plan, and coordinate in-shop maintenance projects.
- Manage and develop the efficient and economical grounds maintenance tasks and horticultural practices in accordance with the seasonal calendar, the College schedule, and current weather conditions.
- Responsible for an accurate record-keeping system for the maintenance, upkeep, and repairs of all grounds equipment.
- Responsible for all grounds safety procedures being implemented and followed.
- Perform complex repair activities as needed on a large variety of implements/equipment.
- Responsible for and participate in the prompt and efficient snow and ice removal on all College campuses.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Landscape Technology, Horticulture, Facilities Management, or another related field; plus, five (5) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. Of the required five (5) years of work experience, two (2) years must be supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
- Knowledge of turf and landscape installation/maintenance and irrigation systems.
- Ability to operate commercial grounds equipment (as needed).
- Manage a crew, delegate tasks, and maintain a productive team environment.
- Organize schedules and ensure maintenance work is completed on time.
- Promote safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
- A pre-employment, post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.
- This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

- Previous experience doing similar work and communicating within a higher education setting.

- Respond professionally to requests or concerns from students, employees, visitors, or stakeholders.
- Handle personnel issues and workplace disagreements constructively.
