Trane Technologies is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer Tech in Grand Rapids, MI. In this role, you will help coordinate and organize production process methods and engineering activities that enable production. This includes sustaining engineering, new product launch processes and continuous improvement activities. The position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining production processes to drive quality and efficiency and to develop manufacturing plans which improve operations competitiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and define concepts and manufacturing processes for, and as an integral part of, all new product introductions and product enhancement programs, using advanced engineering techniques such as DFM / DFA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly), FMEA, 3P (Production, Preparation Process), 7-Ways, and Lean Six Sigma Methodology
  • Assumes responsibility for Capital planning, CER creations and Approvals, Capital Project Timing and Implementation, Capital Spending and Budgeting/ Assumes responsibility for Plant VA/VE Savings
  • Ensures all equipment meets OSHA compliant safety regulations
  • Drives engineering principles and discipline through mentoring, training and project reviews including: PFMEA, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Dynamic Control Plans (DCP), Lean Tools, Project Management and Simultaneous Engineering
  • Leverage Lean philosophy to troubleshoot production process issues and develop improvements.
  • Support Lean initiatives, such as: RIEs, JDIs, 9-Step Problem Solving, and/or additional initiatives as required.
  • Manages, develops and improves manufacturing standards including: machine capability, process maps, set-ups, quality controls, tooling and fixture records, routings and cycle times.
  • Create manufacturing process routings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalent Degree (GED) and one plus (1+) years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in engineering a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to interact positively and work in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and willing to change priorities as needed.
  • Willing to participate in continuous learning opportunities for personal and job development.
  • Experience with CAD processes preferred.
  • Familiar with utilizing Lean philosophy.
  • Knowledgeable of and able to utilize computer system (i.e., Email, Internet, Microsoft Word Suite, MRP).
  • Ability to quickly assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing
  • Knowledge of basic design and manufacturing datum development and its effect in manufacturing processes
  • Experienced in using Apriso, Windchill, and MDP to support manufacturing and product data processes
