About this opportunity
We are now looking for a passionate and driven Intermediate- or Senior Power Amplifier (PA) Designer to join our growing team. We are developing PAs for Ericsson future Radio Systems. We are working on all horizons: Research, pre-development, product development as well as after-market. The amplifiers cover all applicable power levels and frequencies used for mobile narrow band and broadband applications. You will be part of a highly diverse team with varied strengths and contribute in all kinds of activities that come with this role.
Join our Team
What you will do
- Define PA concepts and architectures to meet power, bandwidth, efficiency and linearity targets within a given form factor and supply constraints
- Conduct product-relevant simulations, schematic or drawing designs, testing, and performance analysis to drive continuous product improvement
- Collaborate with other functional areas like e.g., TRX, digital design, power design and system engineers to integrate the PA into the full TX chain
- Work closely together with SW/DPD, verification, reliability, and production teams across multiple sites to deliver high-performing, reliable radio products
- Collaborate closely with external vendors and operators to meet performance, reliability and manufacturability targets
- Work hands-on in the lab with top-of-the-line instrumentation to characterize prototypes and optimize the designs
- Create and maintain HW specifications, design notes, databases, and provide inputs to radio architecture documents
- Share knowledge and mentor junior engineers
The skills you bring
- A university degree: MS in electronics or engineering physics or a PhD in a PA-related subject
- You have been working with power amplifiers for several years and have an in-depth understanding of Power Amplifier (PA) modes, topologies, and architectures
- Hands-on experience with transistor technologies (e.g., LDMOS, GaN), collaboration with multiple semiconductor device vendors and design for volume production
- Practical experience with digital predistortion (DPD) and other PA linearization techniques
- You can discuss on equal terms with a transistor vendor, a mobile infrastructure vendor, a university or a research institute
- You are skilled in ADS and/or AWR (having experience in HFSS or other simulation tools is beneficial)
- Proficiency in RF measurement techniques and hands-on use of RF laboratory equipment (familiarity with load-pull equipment is considered as bonus)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a structured and practical approach to problem solving
- Good programming and scripting skills to support design, analysis, and verification activities
- Knowledge of relevant radio and wireless standards and regulatory requirements (3GPP, ETSI, CE, FCC, Telec).
- Familiarity with 3GPP specifications, such as LTE and NR, including verification and validation needs during product development.
- Understanding of radio product lifecycle, from concept and design to verification and production support
- You are curious, self-driven, and motivated to continuously learn and grow within radio and PA product development
- You have a solution-oriented mindset with the ability to innovate and drive technical improvements
- You show strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with development, system, and product engineering teams
- You are team-oriented with a clear focus on collective success and knowledge sharing
- You feel comfortable working in lean and agile development environments and contribute pro-actively to continuous improvements
- You are result-driven with a service-minded and quality-focused approach
- You can work effectively in English (the capability to collaborate in Japanese is a strong advantage)
What we offer
