Job description:
Purpose
The purpose is to carry out planning, organizing, and overseeing sports programs to enhance participation and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate grassroots and competitive sports programs.
- Organize events, clinics, and tournaments to promote physical activity and talent identification.
- Support pathways for athlete progression from beginner to elite levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, clubs, coaches, parents, and governing bodies.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and external partners
- Provide resources and support for continuing education in coaching best practices.
- Track program outcomes, participation data, and provide regular progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and inclusivity standards.
- Develop promotional materials and use digital platforms to increase program visibility.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in sports development, coaching, or community recreation.
- Knowledge of national and regional sports structures and policies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with sports management platforms is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.
· All academic qualifications and results must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Experience
- Program Development: Creating and implementing sports initiatives that align with organizational goals.
- Facility Management: Overseeing sports facilities to ensure accessibility and maintenance.
- Event Organization: Planning and coordinating tournaments, leagues, and competitions.
- Budgeting & Sponsorship: Managing financial aspects, including fundraising and sponsorship acquisition

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Develop and implement sports programs aligned with organizational goals.
- Create and manage program budgets.
- Source and allocate resources (equipment, venues, staff).
- Ensure programs are cost-effective and within financial constraints.
- Ensure programs comply with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments for events and activities.
- Manage child protection and safeguarding protocols
- Work with local authorities, schools, clubs, and community organizations.
- Schedule shifts and ensure adequate staffing for events.
- Provide ongoing support and professional development.
- Oversee venue bookings, permits, and equipment logistics.
- Coordinate with facility management for maintenance and availability.
- Prepare reports for funders and stakeholders.
- Promote programs via social media, newsletters, and public events.
