The Opportunity: Lead Product Management in Insurance  

Are you passionate about shaping insurance products that deliver real value to customers and the business? Do you combine strong product management expertise with a deep understanding of digital innovation and customer experience?

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager / Product Lead (Insurance) to strengthen our EY Studio+ Financial Services practice, with a focus on insurance product strategy, digital enablement, and customer-centric product development.

In this role, you will support leading insurers in designing and managing their product portfolios, leveraging digital capabilities and design thinking approaches to deliver innovative, compliant, and customer-relevant solutions.

 

Your Role

  • As a Senior Product Manager, you take ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of insurance products, from strategy and design to implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • You combine strong product governance and business expertise with a digital mindset, ensuring that products are not only operationally sound and compliant, but also intuitive, customer-centric, and future-proof.
  • You actively apply design thinking methodologies to co-create new products and improve existing ones, translating customer insights into tangible product innovations.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

Insurance Product Strategy & Portfolio Management

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for insurance products
  • Manage the full product lifecycle: design, development, launch, monitoring, and optimization
  • Translate strategic objectives into business cases, product roadmaps, and action plans
  • Integrate digital capabilities and innovation opportunities into product strategies

Customer-Centric Product Development (Design Thinking)

  • Apply design thinking principles to structure product development: from problem framing and ideation to prototyping and validation
  • Lead workshops with business and customer stakeholders to co-create solutions
  • Translate customer insights, behavioral data, and market signals into innovative product propositions
  • Ensure products and services are designed with a strong focus on customer journeys and value creation

Digital Enablement & Customer Experience

  • Drive the digital enablement of insurance products (e.g. customer portals, servicing flows, onboarding journeys) as part of the overall product offering
  • Ensure alignment between product design and digital touchpoints across channels
  • Leverage data and analytics to continuously improve product performance and customer experience

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a robust product governance framework (incl. compliance, POG, financial and actuarial alignment)
  • Safeguard regulatory compliance and product integrity across the portfolio
  • Monitor product performance, profitability, risk exposure, and customer value

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure structured and efficient product development and implementation processes
  • Drive alignment between business, IT, and operational teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Bring clarity in priorities, roles, and processes within the product organization

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop product managers and product owners
  • Act as a trusted partner for senior stakeholders across business, compliance, actuarial, IT, and digital teams
  • Facilitate decision-making in complex environments with multiple dependencies
  • Strengthen product management maturity, ways of working, and governance models

Your Profile

You have:

  • A Master degree in Business, Engineering, Design;
  • 7–10+ years of experience in product management, ideally within insurance or other regulated industries
  • Experience in roles such as Senior Product Manager, Product Lead, or Head of Product
  • Proven track record in managing product portfolios and lifecycle management
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, pricing, governance, and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in customer-centric product development using design thinking methodologies
  • Experience integrating digital touchpoints and channels into product offerings
  • Comfortable working with customer insights, analytics, and experimentation
  • Strong people leadership and coaching experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills
  • Experience with business cases, data analysis, and performance monitoring
  • Familiarity with product governance, compliance, and actuarial interactions
  • Fluent in Dutch and professional proficiency in English
