SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Junior Systems Administrator, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Homeland Security Task Force. You will play a crucial role in carrying forward the mission to target, disrupt, and dismantle priority Transnational Criminal Organizations and cartels.
- Support Windows and Linux systems across on-premises and virtual environments with a potential to migrate to cloud
- Help ensure availability, performance, and security of systems and data in accordance with contract, security, and compliance requirements
- Utilize Windows and Linux administration skills, develop scripts and drive DevSecOps methodology of the customer mission
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers in physical and virtual environments supporting law enforcement missions.
- Support administration of Active Directory and other core services (DNS, DHCP, file/print, identity).
- Monitor on‑premises for health, performance, and capacity; assist in troubleshooting incidents to maintain high availability and meet SLAs.
- Perform routine maintenance, including OS patching, software updates, and basic backup operations, following customer change management and approval processes.
- Assist with planning and executing system upgrades, migrations, and deployments in data centers, ensuring minimal impact to mission operations.
- Apply and verify security patches, hardening baselines, and configuration standards for Windows, and Linux resources in alignment with applicable law enforcement, DoD, and GDIT security policies.
- Implement and follow established security controls (e.g., least privilege, role‑based access, MFA, logging/monitoring) to protect systems and sensitive law enforcement data.
- Support security audits, inspections, and assessments by providing system and cloud environment data and implementing remediation steps as directed.
- Support backup, restore, and continuity procedures for on‑premises and virtualized environments; assist in periodic testing to validate data integrity and availability.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for critical systems and law enforcement applications; participate in DR and business continuity exercises.
- Provide tier‑1/2 support to users and IT staff for hardware, software, and system issues, including mission‑critical law enforcement applications and tools.
- Maintain accurate, access‑controlled documentation of system configurations, architectures, procedures, and changes to meet audit and chain‑of‑custody requirements.
- Assist in generating reports on system performance, capacity utilization, patch and compliance status, and security events relevant to the law enforcement environment.
- Coordinate with security, network, database, application, and cloud teams to support secure and compliant delivery of IT services to the law enforcement customer.
- Follow all applicable physical, personnel, and information security procedures for cleared environments, including incident and adverse information reporting as required.
- May assist in drafting or updating IT procedures and job aids to reflect customer‑specific and classified environment requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
● Experience: 1+ years of related experience, degree may be substituted with equivalent years of training
● Technical skills: Windows, Linux administration, shell scripting, ManageEngine monitoring, supporting users and systems in secure or regulated environments preferred, exposure to cloud services.
● Security clearance level: Active Secret clearance required
● US citizenship required
● Role requirements: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, system health monitoring, backup, restore, capacity planning, troubleshoot incidents to maintain high availability and meet SLAs
