Who you are:
As a Model Validation Analyst I with Frost, you are our monitor. In this role, you monitor and assess enterprise-wide model risk to ensure alignment with Frost’s risk strategy. You know the organization’s model risk monitoring framework inside and out. By turning data into insights, you will help us discover the accuracy of the most complex and significant financial, statistical, and behavioral models that are used within the organization. What you’ll do:
Monitor and assess enterprise-wide model risk to ensure alignment with Frost’s overall risk strategy
Conduct independent validations of financial, statistical, and behavioral models based on their criticality ratings, providing rigorous challenge to key model assumptions, methodologies, and outputs
Support the validation and review process by evaluating model theory, testing design, performance metrics, and potential vulnerabilities
Analyze data to identify emerging risk exposures and uncover opportunities to leverage data insights for improved strategic and operational decision-making
Contribute to the development of challenger models to benchmark existing models and support outcome and performance analysis
Ensure adherence to the organization’s model risk monitoring framework and associated controls
Assess Model Risk Management governance by reviewing policies, procedures, controls, risk assessments, documentation practices, and validation standards across the modeling lifecycle
Evaluate the Bank’s compliance with SR 11-7 regulatory guidance and related supervisory expectations

What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Economics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
1+ years of experience in the development or validation of financial, statistical, or mathematical models, or equivalent coursework/internship experience
Mastery of statistics and numerical techniques
Demonstrated experience with documenting technical aspects of a model as well as presenting results/findings
Proficient in either SQL, SAS, R, or Python
Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional Preferred Skills:
Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematical Finance, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Management Science, Operations Research, or Economics
