Manufacturing Supervisor – Job Description
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production activities on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. This role oversees a team of production associates, provides hands-on support, resolves issues in real time, and drives continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
· Supervise, coach, and develop a team of production employees across assigned shifts.
· Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to standard work.
· Conduct shift start-ups, team meetings, and communicate goals and expectations.
· Address performance issues, attendance, and behavioral concerns promptly and professionally.
Production & Workflow Management
· Ensure production schedules are met by managing labor, materials, and equipment effectively.
· Monitor line performance, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action to maintain throughput.
· Coordinate with buyers, engineering, and maintenance to resolve production issues.
· Maintain accurate production reporting, downtime tracking, and shift documentation.
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
· Conduct safety audits, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
· Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
Quality Assurance
· Ensure products meet quality specifications and standards.
· Partner with Quality teams to address defects, rework, and process deviations.
· Train employees on quality procedures and standard work instructions.
Continuous Improvement
· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
· Support Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives.
· Recommend process changes and assist with implementation.
Administrative & Operational Duties
· Approve timecards, manage schedules, and coordinate overtime needs.
· Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
· Maintain inventory accuracy for materials used on the line.
· Ensure equipment is properly maintained and escalate issues to Maintenance.
Qualifications
Required
· 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
· 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
· Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production processes.
· Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
· Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
· Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
Preferred
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
· Background in CNC programming, machining, metal fabrication or machine shop operations.
Work Environment
· Manufacturing/assembly floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
· Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
