Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.
This position may qualify for a $0.30 multilingual pay differential.

Are you passionate about nutrition? As a Nutrition Associate, you will provide services to the participants in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, such as nutrition counseling and education, verification of eligibility, nutrition assessment, and education.
Our staff is creative, innovative, passionate about maternal and child nutrition, and seeks to make a difference in their community. This position also offers an amazing pathway to becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)! We Require
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or a similar program with nutrition-related coursework
OR
Associate's degree in Nutrition or a related degree program and credentialed with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR); OR DTR eligible with the ability to pass the credentialing exam within twelve months of hire, with the first attempt occurring within three months of hire

Job Contributions
Provides one-on-one nutrition counseling for participants who require more than basic nutrition counseling services, such as nutrition assessments, participant-centered nutrition counseling and education, documentation of nutrition care plan, nutrition, and breastfeeding education
Assesses eligibility and certifies participants for the WIC program, including determination of WIC benefits, performing and interpreting hemoglobin screening tests, and accurate anthropometric measurements
Assigns and issues appropriate food benefits, documents, and assures accuracy of participant files, and refers participants to other local and state agencies as needed
Conducts group nutrition education, including facilitated group discussions both in-person and on online platforms
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office environment with a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Position is not 100% telework, time may be split between working remotely from home and in a shared clinic space
Home access to a computer, mobile device, and the internet is necessary if splitting time between home and office, with daily communication with co-workers through virtual meetings, email, and Microsoft Teams messaging and participant interactions to include remote appointments via video, phone, and in-person
May be assigned to work at alternate WIC sites, as needed
Must obtain an ID.me account by the time of hire in order to verify client eligibility through AHCCCS
Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire
Ability to exert 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10lbs. constantly
Ability to travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies using a County or private vehicle
Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
