- Scrubs and sets up instrumentation.
- Maintains aseptic technique at all times.
- Maintains awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damages or harm to personnel and patient.
- Assists with and anticipates the needs of the surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
- Maintains correct count of sponges and needles with the circulating nurse and reports correctness and discrepancies.
- Observes and protects the patient before, during, and after the procedure.
- Covers call as policy dictates.
- Flexibility in adjusting duty hours to meet needs of department.
- High School diploma required.
- Completion of approved Operating Room Technician Program required.
- Certification as Operating Room Technician required.
- Assists the surgeon as scrub technician according to established policies and standards.
- Assists the circulating RN as necessary.
- Assists in maintenance, care and cleanliness of supplies and surgical suite.
- Covers call as assigned.
- Maintains and increases standards of performance and education.
