
Multimedia Journalist, KBZK
Job Description
- Develop original story ideas by evaluating news leads, tips, and community insights
- Research, gather, and verify information through interviews, observation, and field reporting
- Write compelling stories aligned with broadcast and AP style standards
- Shoot high-quality video and still photography to visually enhance storytelling
- Edit video content for broadcast and digital platforms using non-linear editing systems
- Deliver live reports in the field or from mobile broadcast units
- Appear on-air for interviews, narration, and live segments
- Collaborate with photographers, producers, and digital teams to produce engaging content
- Assist producers in building strong, informative newscasts
- Publish and optimize multimedia content for web and digital platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience required
- 3+ years of experience in a multimedia journalism or related role preferred
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance meeting company requirements required
- Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
- Experience with videography and operation of broadcast-quality cameras
- Proficiency editing with Final Cut Pro or similar non-linear editing tools
- Comfort using newsroom systems and publishing across digital platforms
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong news judgment, curiosity, and storytelling instincts
- Self-motivation with the ability to work independently in the field
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
