Job Description

At KBZK, this isn’t just a job—it’s your chance to tell stories where the backdrop is as powerful as the journalism. You’ll live and work in Bozeman, where mountain sunrises, tight-knit communities, and real, impactful storytelling intersect every day.
As a Multimedia Journalist, you won’t just cover the news—you’ll be in it, driving across Big Sky country to capture the moments that matter most to the people who call Montana home. From breaking news to meaningful enterprise pieces, you’ll create content that connects deeply across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. If you’re ready to trade routine for adventure and make your mark in a market that values authentic storytelling, KBZK is ready for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Develop original story ideas by evaluating news leads, tips, and community insights
  • Research, gather, and verify information through interviews, observation, and field reporting
  • Write compelling stories aligned with broadcast and AP style standards
  • Shoot high-quality video and still photography to visually enhance storytelling
  • Edit video content for broadcast and digital platforms using non-linear editing systems
  • Deliver live reports in the field or from mobile broadcast units
  • Appear on-air for interviews, narration, and live segments
  • Collaborate with photographers, producers, and digital teams to produce engaging content
  • Assist producers in building strong, informative newscasts
  • Publish and optimize multimedia content for web and digital platforms

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in a multimedia journalism or related role preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of insurance meeting company requirements required

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Experience with videography and operation of broadcast-quality cameras
  • Proficiency editing with Final Cut Pro or similar non-linear editing tools
  • Comfort using newsroom systems and publishing across digital platforms
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong news judgment, curiosity, and storytelling instincts
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently in the field
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

OUR TEAM: At KBZK, you’ll join a newsroom that values grit, creativity, and authentic connection to the community. We’re a team of storytellers who support each other in the field and behind the scenes, bringing a wide range of perspectives and experiences together to cover the region in a meaningful way. We move fast, celebrate great journalism, and take pride in the work we do every day to serve viewers across Southwest Montana.
WHERE YOU'LL LIVE, WORK, AND PLAY: Bozeman isn’t just a place to work—it’s a lifestyle. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, this is where your days off can include hiking alpine trails, skiing world-class slopes, or fishing blue-ribbon rivers. The city blends small-town warmth with a vibrant food scene, local breweries, and a growing arts and culture community.
Here, your commute might take you past open skies and mountain peaks, and your reporting will take you into communities that value trust, storytelling, and connection. If you’ve ever thought about making a bold move somewhere meaningful, this is your invitation to do just that.
