Our Team:
You will be joining a small, high-impact QMS team responsible for maintaining and advancing Semtech's multi-standard management system across global operations. The team manages ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 22301 certifications spanning multiple business units and sites. It's a hands-on environment where your work directly influences audit program quality, corrective action integrity, and the overall health of the quality system — with visibility to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Quality Management Systems (QMS), the QMS Engineer – Internal Auditor is responsible for managing the internal audit program across all areas of the business. This includes planning and leading audits to applicable ISO standards, documenting and reporting findings to management, driving closure of nonconformances and corrective actions, and contributing to continual improvement initiatives. This is a 14-month temporary position with the possibility of conversion to regular full-time employment based on business needs and individual performance.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- 45%: Plan, lead, and conduct internal audits according to the latest ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and others as applicable), across multiple sites globally.
- 45%: Write audit reports and communicate results to management. Follow up on all nonconformances detected during audits and ensure effective closure of findings (CAPA).
- 10%: Coordinate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering, materials science, semiconductor fabrication, or a related engineering discipline; OR a 2-year technical diploma/certificate in Electronics with a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronics engineering, manufacturing, or quality – preferably in a high-tech or electronics industry – including hands-on experience conducting internal audits and participating in the CAPA process.
- Certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 – required.
- Experience with 8D problem-solving, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is required.
Desired Qualifications
- IATF 16949 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification is desirable.
- Familiarity with statistical and quality methodologies including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE) is desirable.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or equivalent SQA certification is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, approachable style; able to build credibility and working relationships across functions and levels.
- Effective communicator – clear and professional in both written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting findings to management.
- Sound analytical and critical thinking skills; able to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and drive practical solutions.
- Self-directed and well-organized; capable of managing multiple audit activities with minimal supervision.
- Genuine commitment to quality culture and continuous improvement – not just compliance.
Additional Information
Travel requirement: 10–20% (domestic and international, across multiple sites globally).
Employment type: 14-month temporary contract. Based on performance and business requirements, this position may be converted to a regular full-time role.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $98,000-$110,000. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
