Job Title: Business Systems Intern                                

Department: Business Technology

Classification: Non-Exempt                                     

Reports to: Associate Director of Enterprise Services – Europe

Yakima Chief Hops is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to assist the Business Technology department in producing technical documentation of various business processes and policies. The intern will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Business Systems – Europe. The intern is expected to follow company guidelines, policies and procedures. The Intern assists activities as determined and directed by the department head and/or designee. Additionally, the Intern shall assist and work with department staff as well as outside vendors as required. The Intern will be responsible for assisting the department with general documentation of enterprise business processes, as well as other duties including, but not limited to, research, data entry and light SQL-work.

Time Frame:

12 weeks internship program with option to complete program sooner or later. For successful interns, there’s the potential to take on additional work or projects after internship time frame ends.
 

Job Requirements:

  1. You are: 
    1. A student enrolled in a bachelor or master program (IT, business IT, data, engineering, or similar). 
    2. Comfortable working with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. 
    3. Curious about how business systems and processes work behind the scenes. 
    4. Structured, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently. 
    5. Not afraid to ask questions and eager to learn. 
  2. Nice to have (not required): 
    1. Basic knowledge of SQL or databases. 
    2. Exposure to Power BI or reporting tools. 
    3. Interest in ERP, WMS, or IT service management tools.

Job Summary:

You’ll learn by doing: documenting processes, supporting business applications, and helping improve how our systems and data are used. This internship is ideal for students in IT, business IT, data, engineering, or related studies who want practical experience.

Job Duties:

  1. Support daily operations in enterprise systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and eCommerce tools. 
  2. Assist with Business Technology support by following up on tickets and resolving common functional issues. 
  3. Perform basic data analysis and reporting using SQL Server, and/or Power BI. 
  4. Contribute to small improvement initiatives related to processes, systems, or documentation. 
  5. Work closely with Business Technology colleagues, business users, and occasionally external vendors. 
  6. Help document business processes, Business Technology procedures, and workflows in a clear and structured way. 
  7. Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  8. May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  9. Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  10. Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, Employee Handbook, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  11. Must adhere to all company policies.
  12. Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  13. Follow all SOPs in a given area.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
