Direct Support Professional - Pre Voc - Full Time - Days

JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Non-Exempt PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT:   Community Prevocational IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Supervisor Prevocational ServicesPOSITION SUMMARY:  Assists people with disabilities to achieve their person-centered goals by coordinating and implementing prevocational activities that improve their work performance and prepare them for paid work or unpaid volunteer activity. Provides coaching and instruction in specific work tasks according to the plan goals designed to assist the person to maximize their independence through work experience, volunteering, and skill development. Ensures the safety and overall welfare of the people we serve by utilizing proper behavior management techniques.  QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education, Training & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record   Preferred Education, Training & Experience:Experience working with people with developmental disabilities   ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work cooperatively with all departments, levels of staff, and outside contacts Ability to effectively communicate orally, in writing, and on the telephone Ability to work effectively without direct supervision Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks and ever-changing priorities Strong organizational skills Ability to be positive, outgoing and personable Ability to empower the people we serve to do for themselves   SALARY: $16.96 per hour stating rate   SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8am-3:30pm
