Job Summary: 

To successfully deliver projects and contracted services to company’s internal and external stakeholders including global corporate clients on the agreed site(s), ensuring to meet the key requirements in environmental protection, health, and safety perspectives. 

Job Responsibilities: 

The applicant will mainly perform the following responsibilities: 

  • Lead and drive the strategies and activities of the EHS function. 

  • Cultivate an improvement culture across all projects to ensure a healthy, safe, and accident-free working environment. 

  • Lead and supervise EHS teams appointed to contractors/consultants. 

  • Implement EHS guidelines, policies, and management systems, including corporate and local regulatory requirements. 

  • Provide EHS support in various areas, including Construction Site Safety audit protocols, with a detailed scope and deliverables. 

  • Maintain records of EHS incidents, conduct investigations, and develop corrective action plans. 

  • Manage construction site emergency response plans to handle emergencies for the safety and health of all involved. 

  • Prepare regular EHS performance reports for client review of past performances and the progress of improvement initiatives. 

  • Analyse leading and lagging safety metrics and communicate results to leadership to drive action and accountability. 

 

Required Experience, Qualifications and Education 

  • Bachelor's Degree or related Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health. 

  • At least 10 years of experience in safety management on projects of similar size/complexity. 

  • Experience gained from the oil and gas or construction industries. 

  • Experiences in project management and plant start-up will be added advantage. 

  • Must be registered/certified EHS Officer in Malaysia 

  • Other Professional EHS Certifications (e.g. Certified Environmental, Safety and Health, Charter Safety and Health Practitioner, Certified Professional Environment Auditor, Certified Safety Health Manager, Certified chartered Generalist OHS professional, and/or others) would add credentials. 

  • Well-versed with occupational safety and health legislations and practices. 

  • Depth knowledge and recognized qualifications in safety management, including qualifications such as ISO 45001/14001. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and report-writing skills. 

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
