Job Summary
The Database Analyst is a mid-level position responsible for analyzing, designing, and supporting the state’s database systems. The Database Analyst works closely with database administrators and application development teams to ensure that the database structures meet the functional and performance requirements of various state agencies. This role involves a balance of technical skills and business analysis to help guide the design and optimization of databases used for state operations.
Provides technical assistance to end-users to research and resolve reported end-user technical issues with the student administrative software, reports and state reporting.Creates and updates training and procedural documentation to support end-users and staff.Notifies vendors and other support entities of software problems and changes and generates special reports as required.Provides training and support for school districts under intensive support.Assists APSCN staff and end-users by interpreting and troubleshooting software issues related to student administrative systems and state reporting applications.Performs software testing and prepares test data analyzes for the system applications.Acts as back-up for SMS help desk and field analysts as needed.Acts as unit mentor for new staff.Performs other duties as assigned. In-state travel required.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Three years of experience in database analysis, database design, or database management.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
