We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who takes independent ownership of complex, production‑critical data, application, and integration solutions. In this role, you will work close to production, IT, OT, and the business to deliver modern, secure, and reliable digital capabilities that directly support industrial processes and data‑driven decision‑making.
At Skoghall Mill, you will play a key role in shaping integrations between industrial systems and analytics platforms. You will support the ongoing modernization of our data landscape, ensuring robust, scalable, and future‑ready foundations in an increasingly complex IT/OT environment.
This role is critical for supporting both existing and future production systems. You will join Digital and Business Technology Solutions (DBTS) as part of the BU Mill IT South Sweden team and report to the BU Mill IT South Sweden Lead, working with a broad range of stakeholders across the mill and the wider organization.
Main responsibilities
- Take end‑to‑end ownership of production‑critical data and application solutions, including architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
- Independently design, develop, maintain, and evolve data platforms, pipelines, applications, and integrations supporting production and business processes
- Own, stabilize, and further develop existing production‑critical applications, integrations, and data pipelines, including solutions with incomplete or evolving documentation
- Develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data models across multiple layers (ingestion, storage, transformation, and consumption)
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions used in production‑critical environments
- Act as a senior technical counterpart towards production, IT, OT, vendors, and business stakeholders
- Drive improvements, standardization, and long‑term maintainability of data, applications, and reporting solutions
- Contribute to defining best practices, documentation, and technical guidelines
Experience and competence
- Several years of hands‑on experience in Data Engineering and/or Software Development in complex environments
- Proven ability to work independently and take technical ownership of advanced, production‑critical solutions
- Strong programming skills and experience with modern development frameworks
- Solid hands‑on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server)
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, ETL/ELT, DAX, and SSAS Tabular
- Experience with BI and analytics tools, such as Power BI
- Good understanding of integrations, APIs, and data flows, including data movement between systems and platforms
- Experience working with cloud‑based data platforms and multi‑layer data architectures (e.g. data lake, data warehouse, semantic layers)
- Experience working in or close to industrial / production environments, including collaboration across IT, OT, and MES, is a strong advantage
Meriting experience
- Industrial systems, MES, or OT/IT integrations
- Azure Data Platform, Snowflake, Oracle
- Data warehousing architectures
Education & certifications (preferred)
- Relevant university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or similar, or equivalent experience
- Relevant certifications in data platforms, cloud technologies, or analytics are considered a strong merit
