Summary of Essential Duties:
- Oversees the day-to-day product inventory operations for designated peri-operative areas
- Collaborates with medical and nursing staff and all areas of Support Services including (but not limited to) Central Issues, Purchasing, Warehouse, Receiving, Billing, Processing, Clinical Engineering and information Systems
- Responsible for inventory functions and product and/or accounting discrepancies as a result of those functions
- Provides daily operational analysis through maintenance of automated information systems
- Forecasts inventory utilization based on standard acceptable par levels. Recommends inventory consumption control measures
- Responsible for determining usage, lead time, safety stock, MIN and MAX quantity for all inventory as assigned
- Ensure inventory is available to fill department’s supply needs. Monitors and follows established par levels based on utilization and projected changes in caseload mix. Performs inventory counts of medical, surgical, and/or other supplies maintained in all department areas including restricted areas, clean utility rooms, medication rooms, nurse servers, and anesthesia workrooms.
- Evaluates operational systems to streamline activities, facilitates inventory flow from vendor to warehouse to inventory area to maximize productivity. Works with purchasing, receiving, and accounts payable to resolve product and/or accounting discrepancies.
- Rotates stock to avoid expiration, removes expired inventory and reviews inventory for obsolescence and arranges exchange or donation.
- Interacts with physicians, nurses, laboratory, and other departmental staff to pinpoint and resolve all departmental supply issues.
- Maintains an organized, safe, and efficient work area.
- Effectively performs job duties in surgical, procedural and/or laboratory specialties.
- Coordinates all physical inventory activities. Responsible for all inventory counts of stock and non-stock items.
- Takes inventory and cycle counts as directed by management.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Materials Management, Shipping/Receiving/Distribution required
- Hospital inventory experience preferred
- Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheet applications required
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds required
