DOOR AND HARDWARE DETAILER
Position: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Required Education: Degree in Construction Management preferred

Job Summary:
The Door and Hardware Detailer is responsible for preparing detailed door and hardware schedules while coordinating opening requirements as outlined in contract documents, including plans, specifications and addenda. This role ensures all product selection meet local code compliance and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Division 8 materials and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:

Review sales sheets and job requirements to ensure accuracy in quantities and pricing from the sales/estimating team.

Analyze contract documents (purchase orders, plans and specifications) to accurately determine required door and hardware quantities.

Schedule and detail materials with accurate cost verification, ensuring optimal product selection and adherence to project budget.

Ensure all scheduled products comply with building codes, fire ratings, ADA and life safety regulations.

Draft detailed notes and identify issues or required clarifications for review by the General Contractor and/or architect.

Conduct internal reviews of schedules and submittals to identify and resolve potential discrepancies before final approval.

Perform additional duties as directed by the Detailing Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years experience as a Detailer in the commercial door and hardware industry (preferred not required).

In-depth knowledge of Division 8 materials, especially products from ASSA ABLOY, Allegion and Curries.

Proficient with industry-specific software, particularly Comsense (Preferred not required).

Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and interpret construction contracts, blueprints and technical specifications.

Comprehensive understanding of door, frame and hardware applications in relation to UL, fire code, ADA, life safety and other applicable codes.

Familiarity with electronic hardware and its integration into door systems.

High attention to detail with strong analytical and mathematical skills.
