Mortgage Loan Originator Assistant - St Joseph (Full-Time)

This is a Hybrid Work Eligible position. You will be required to work in the local market as needed to ensure business needs are met.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Plays a critical role in assisting a high‑performing Mortgage Loan Officer by overseeing loan pipeline coordination and supporting the applicant experience from application through closing.
  • Accountable for managing borrower communication, gathering and organizing required documentation, and ensuring loan files progress efficiently and accurately through each stage of the process.
  • Serves as a key point of coordination between borrowers, internal partners, and third‑party vendors, helping maintain service quality, regulatory compliance, and a positive borrower experience while enabling the Loan Officer to focus on origination and relationship growth.
  • Provides marketing and business support to the Mortgage Loan Officer as needed by assisting with CRM updates, lead tracking, and pipeline follow‑up activities. Supports marketing efforts such as campaigns and realtor outreach, and prepares pre‑approval letters under the supervision of the Mortgage Loan Officer when applicable.
  • Manages calendars, task lists, and follow‑ups to help ensure timely communication, consistent outreach, and effective organization of business development activities.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
 
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Additional college coursework in business or related field preferred.
  • Must be/or become registered as an MLO and have a Nationwide Licensing Number.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
  • A minimum of one year up to three years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to keep finances in order.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, well-organized and have an excellent eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is subject to SAFE Act Registration Requirements. Pursuant to the SAFE Act requirements, all loan officers engaged in residential loan mortgage originations (as defined by the SAFE Act) must register with the federal registry system and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements. If at any time the credit union determines that your position requires SAFE Act registration, you will be required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process. Failure to register successfully or to maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act will affect your eligibility for continued employment and may result in your immediate termination.
