The opportunity
Join BPA’s growing team as a Mechanical Engineer based in Calgary! This role is ideal for an independent professional who thrives on both autonomy and collaboration. You’ll work on a variety of building system design projects, in collaboration with our Edmonton team, while developing BPA’s presence in the Calgary market.
You’ll have the flexibility to work independently day-to-day, with regular collaboration and knowledge sharing across offices. Expect occasional travel to Edmonton (one to two trips per month) to connect with colleagues and advance project coordination.

Your daily impact
Technical supervision, coordination, verification and design of various mechanical building systems projects from concept design to completion of construction.
Work as part of a team to carry out building-related mechanical systems design projects for various sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural and residential).
Connect with clients to understand their needs.
Survey existing installations.
Analyze, design and adapt building-related installations.
Prepare various types of client reports.
Manage the project and the relationships with the client.
Your profile
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (specializing in building) or building engineering.
7+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
Member in good standing of APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP heat loads calculations software.
Capability to write reports, complete site visits, and design mechanical and plumbing systems with minimum supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
Ability to work at the office and do day project site visits, and to visit the Edmonton office once or twice per month with overnight stay.
Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for site and client visits.
