Job Summary

Landrum & Brown is seeking a Senior Aviation Environmental Consultant to support the delivery of complex airport environmental projects across the United States. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional with strong aviation NEPA expertise who enjoys leading project delivery, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and serving as a trusted advisor to airport clients and regulatory agencies.

You will play a key role in the preparation and delivery of environmental documentation for airport infrastructure projects, working closely with senior leadership while remaining heavily involved in technical execution and client coordination.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Opportunity

This position offers the chance to work on impactful aviation projects involving airport expansion, terminal redevelopment, runway improvements, and broader airside and landside infrastructure programs.

You will contribute directly to the successful delivery of environmental studies and documentation while building strong relationships with airport sponsors, the FAA, and project stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Technical Execution

Lead and support preparation of aviation environmental documentation, including:

  • Environmental Impact Statements (EIS)

  • Environmental Assessments (EA)

  • Categorical Exclusions (CatEx)

Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams across environmental disciplines including:

  • Air quality

  • Noise analysis

  • Wetlands

  • Cultural resources

  • Environmental permitting and compliance

Support environmental analyses for:

  • Airfield expansion projects

  • Runway extensions

  • Terminal redevelopment

  • Landside and support facility improvements

  • Prepare technical documentation, manage project schedules and budgets, and ensure quality and consistency of deliverables.

  • Coordinate directly with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), airport authorities, and other regulatory agencies throughout project development and environmental review processes.

Client Coordination

  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.

  • Support senior leadership in client meetings, project planning discussions, and proposal efforts.

  • Contribute to maintaining strong client relationships through responsive communication and reliable project execution.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior environmental and aviation leadership on project strategy and delivery.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and support the development of technical capabilities within the team.

  • Collaborate across offices and disciplines to deliver integrated aviation infrastructure solutions.

What We’re Seeking

  • 8–12 years of environmental consulting experience, ideally with a focus on aviation infrastructure projects

  • Experience preparing and coordinating NEPA documentation for airport projects, including EIS, EA, and/or CatEx documents

  • Familiarity working with FAA Airport District Offices and environmental review processes

  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to airport development

  • Experience managing project tasks, schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary coordination

  • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively with clients, agencies, and internal project teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning, engineering, or a related field required

  • Advanced degree preferred

Additional Information
