Hourly Pay Range:
$32.60 - $48.90 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.Position Highlights
Position: Lead Paramedic Education
Location: Edward Hospital
Full-Time: 40 hours per week
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
What you will need:
License: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) or Paramedic license required
Valid Illinois driver’s license required for off-site responsibilities
Education: Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Certification Required: Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association, Illinois Lead Instructor License

ACLS Instructor
PALS Instructor
PHTLS/ITLS Instructor (based on discipline)
Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Emergency Communications Registered Nurse (ECRN)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) / PEPP
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) / International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
Experience:
Minimum of two years’ recent Emergency Department and/or EMS experience required
Previous experience teaching healthcare-related content, skills instruction, and learner remediation preferred
Knowledge of instructional methods, curriculum development, and adult learning principles
What will you do:
Coordinates all aspects of training for students enrolled in the Paramedic Education Program including but not limited to: entry applications; basic requirements; notification of acceptances or declinations; preparation, speaker coordination, instruction, updating and scoring knowledge evaluation tools; appropriate room and equipment availability; and coordination with College of DuPage (COD).
Maintains and revises the Paramedic Education Manual policies and procedures and enforces compliance.
Monitors, evaluates and counsels student progress by tracking attendance, reviewing clinical rotations and field internship experiences, and providing feedback and recommendations for dismissal when appropriate.
Assures documentation of grades, performance/behavioral issues and any counseling are timely and thorough. Assures that student academic records are maintained consistently with IDPH, Edward Hospital legal requirements and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and as amended. Communicates grades to COD as required.
Assures that all proctors, preceptors and guest speakers have signed service agreements and any required paperwork on file and have evaluations of their performance.
Assures that field preceptors are trained to carry out their responsibilities for their students; monitors field experiences through evaluation of paperwork, field visits, and discussions with students and preceptors. Recommends changes in any of the above.
Prepares an annual budget for the Paramedic Education Program for approval.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in EMS by reading appropriate professional journals; membership in professional organizations; attending EH EMS System, EMS Region 8, IDPH and national meetings as appropriate.
Participates in the EMS Region 8 Education Committee.
Serves as liaison with COD regarding clinical experiences at Edward Hospital for EMT-B students including assuring that they meet dress code and behavioral expectations.
Uses information technologies, didactic and psychomotor materials skillfully to support the teaching-learning process.
Using a variety of strategies, assures that the Paramedic Education Program fosters integrity; respect for patients and colleagues; an appropriate climate for learning; the concept of lifelong learning; and critical thinking skills.
Participates in all aspects of the EHEMSS program as required.
