Following a series of recent public sector contract wins, Workday is seeking an experienced Social Value program MAnager to support its UK business.
Responsibilities
Managing the delivery of Workday’s Social Value obligations to its public sector customers in central, regional and local government, higher education, social housing and the health service.
Acting as the main customer point of contact for Social Value programmes in Workday’s public sector contracts, including coordinating the collation and presentation of relevant evidence and other material to support compliance with contractual KPIs and SPIs relating to Social Value.
Maintaining an awareness of the emerging Social Value landscape, including innovations in Social Value delivery and measurement, and researching and identifying organisations with whom Workday can potentially partner to deliver a programme of proportionate, scalable, compelling and engaging Social Value activities.
Working with Workday’s sales and customer base teams to support business development, by responding to Social Value requirements in procurements, crafting compelling proposal responses, and engaging in customer presentations and/or negotiations to ensure that Workday scores well for this in tender evaluations.
Under the direction of the Workday UK Leadership Team, coordinating Workday’s Employee “Giving and Doing” activities in the UK, such as employee volunteering (“Bright Days Off”) or other charitable activities and aligning these with Workday’s contractual Social Value obligations where possible to maximise impact.
Working with the Workday Foundation to maximise the value that the Workday UK Business derives from donations and other activities in the UK, including coordinating with Communications and Corporate Affairs teams to create opportunities for positive PR and/or political engagement.
Developing and implementing mechanisms to measure and report on the impact of Workday’s Social Value and Employee Engagement activities in the UK, both for individual contracts and collectively as a UK business.
Working with Workday’s Implementation Partners to align their Social Value programmes with those operated by Workday for particular contracts.
Work with Workday’s procurement team and suppliers, to maximise the contribution of Workday’s Supply Chain to its Social Value programmes.
About You
Basic Qualification
Experience: 5+ years of program/project management experience, with at least 2 years specifically dedicated to designing, executing, or managing Social Value, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), or Employee Engagement initiatives.
Public Sector Supplier Track Record: Minimum of 2 years of experience working within or directly supplying to the UK Public Sector, including active participation in both the pre-sales/bid cycle (answering frameworks/tenders) and operational delivery/contract compliance.
Regulatory & Policy Knowledge: Verifiable experience working with UK public procurement policies, including a baseline compliance understanding of the Social Value Model (PPN 06/20), Modern Slavery Act 2015, and the UK Procurement Act.
Measurement Tools: Hands-on experience utilizing at least one industry-standard Social Value measurement framework or proxy tool (e.g., National TOMs, Social Value Portal, or Thrive) to track and report on contract commitments.
Financial Management: Direct experience managing program budgets of at least £50k+ (or local equivalent), including tracking spend, procurement of vendors, and financial ROI reporting.
Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; plus a recognized project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, or PMP).
Other Qualifications
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following strategic capabilities, networks, and soft skills:
An in-depth understanding of the Government’s Social Value policies and priorities and how these are delivered.
Experience in operating Social Value and/or Employee Engagement activities gained in another company, ideally one which is an established supplier to the UK public sector, including during both the sales cycle and operational delivery.
A broad understanding of procurement policy matters relating to Social Value, such as sustainability, modern slavery, skills and education, economic development and their significance in public sector contracting.
Resourceful and able to build and maintain networks with other teams inside a complex, global company, whose input will be required to deliver Workday’s Social Value commitments.
Good communication skills, particularly in the production of high-quality written and presentational material.
Awareness of the new UK Procurement Act
Commercially and Financially Astute, experienced in budget management and procurement.
