JOB SUMMARY

The Veteran Clinician supports the Lead Counselor by conducting a range of psychotherapeutic and rehabilitative interventions, solution focused brief counseling, psychosocial assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, training, community presentations, and case management for veterans, military, reserves, guard, and military families.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides assessments, mental health evaluations, family-individual-group therapy, plan development, case consultation, crisis intervention, discharge placement, and assists clients in meeting basic needs and symptom management.

• Coordinates the full range of Veteran, Military, Reserve, Guard, and Family needs. Provides brokerage, linkage, and advocacy to ensure resources and services are accessed in a timely manner.

• Completes accurate and timely documentation for direct client services.

• Provides field-based services as required by program and client need.

• Maintains confidentiality of client’s care.

• Participates in scheduled program meetings.

• Provides needed support to transitioning military members, families and youth and assists with navigation through various systems, services, and benefits.

• Works in conjunction with Lead Veteran Counselor to provide services to Veteran Treatment Court clients and their families.

• Develops, evaluates, and implements intervention goals and plans in conjunction with the team.

• Provides individual and group counseling, as well as education in symptom management.

• Conducts and oversees psycho educational groups, education, and training activities as directed by the Lead Veteran Counselor

• Prepares critical care issues for discussion during supervision and team meetings.

• Completes all assigned duties within the time frame and in accordance with the standards established by the Program Manager

• Other relevant duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in counseling. CA BBS registration or license (MFT, LCSW, LPCC) preferred.

• Must be a United States Veteran or spouse of a US Veteran.

• Knowledge of community resources that will be utilized by Veteran’s, Military, Reserve’s, Guard, and their Families

• Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

• Formal education and training working with the military population or one year of experience in programs serving veterans, active-duty military, and their families.

• Valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.

• Experience providing mental health and/or substance use disorder services preferred.

• Cultural competency understanding required.

• Bilingual preferred.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR software preferred.
