POSITION OVERVIEW
BDC is the only bank dedicated exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As a Commercial Account Manager in financing and credit, you play a key role in supporting entrepreneurs with revenues between $3M and $50M by managing an existing client portfolio and building strong, trust‑based relationships. Your work directly contributes to the growth and long‑term success of Canadian businesses through tailored financing solutions and advisory services. CHALLENGES TO BE MET
In this role, you will:
- Meet with entrepreneurs, existing clients, and prospects to understand their business operations, financial position, and challenges.
- Identify client needs, provide sound financial advice, and recommend appropriate BDC financing and advisory solutions.
- Execute an action plan aligned with the Business Centre’s objectives to ensure client retention, satisfaction, and portfolio growth.
- Analyze, structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals while exercising sound credit judgment.
- Manage a portfolio of corporate borrowers, with a strong focus on client satisfaction and long‑term relationship management.
- Deliver value‑added, segment‑specific, and personalized communications to clients to support effective relationship management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field deemed equivalent.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role with sales or business development objectives.
- Experience working directly with entrepreneurs or business clients.
- Financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret financial statements.
- Experience analyzing and presenting financing or credit proposals.
- Ability to identify business issues and client needs through effective listening and questioning.
- Strong portfolio management skills, with a structured and organized approach to client and action plan management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, peers, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the local or regional business environment.
- Demonstrated experience in canvassing, prospecting, or developing new business opportunities.
