The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a full time Child Development Specialist to work in Miami, FL.
The Child Development Specialist will provide support in the form of direct service for children and their families, assisting with data management, and providing additional program support as needed.
Core responsibilities:
Provides evaluations, reports, goals, direct therapy, and consultation services.
Implements services and activities for children with a variety of developmental and diagnostic indicators.
Delivers consultation services to parents, caregivers, teachers, and community specialists and professionals regarding client progress and recommendations.
Assists children with physical, social, and behavioral needs.
Maintains effective communications with parents.
Preserves confidentiality while communicating with parents and other departments about individual children and family needs and progress.
Ensures all licensing regulations are complied with at all times.
Inputs patient data into appropriate computer systems in a timely manner.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
- Assist with managing program database (data entry, clean-up, electronic filing)
- Perform assessments and clinical observations
- Review assessment outcomes and if eligible coordinate program services and if ineligible, link to community resources
- Provide intervention services on a weekly basis to a caseload of about 10-15 children in the natural environment
- Attend all program meetings and trainings as needed
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as position does require driving

Core Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
