Summary
The Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Trainee is an entry-level position designed to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safe work habits required to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems on ProPetro frac equipment. Working under the guidance of experienced technicians and assigned mentors, the trainee will participate in a structured training program that combines hands-on learning, competency development, and exposure to various maintenance disciplines. The goal of this role is to prepare the employee for progression into an I&E 1 position.
Responsibilities
Learn and assist with the maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation components under direct supervision.
Work closely with assigned mentors, maintenance personnel, and the Learning & Development team to build technical proficiency and job knowledge.
Follow established maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and company standards while performing assigned tasks.
Participate in hands-on training, skills assessments, and development programs to support career progression.
Gain familiarity with electrical systems, sensors, controllers, wiring diagrams, instrumentation devices, and associated maintenance practices.
Assist in diagnosing equipment issues and performing preventive maintenance activities.
Complete required competency evaluations and training milestones to qualify for advancement to I&E 1.
Maintain accurate documentation of completed training and assigned maintenance work.
Perform general housekeeping duties and assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.
Attend field locations only when accompanied and supervised by qualified personnel as required.
Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Attend required safety meetings, training sessions, and utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Demonstrate a commitment to safe driving practices and safe work behaviors.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications
High school education or equivalent, required; technical or associate’s degree, preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively and record work in English.
Maintaining a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, required.
Must be physically capable of performing job functions.
Problem solving and critical thinking skills, preferred.
Basic computer skills and able to quickly learn related software (i.e., Microsoft Office 365 applications, Power Bi, etc.).
Personable, reliable, with a good attitude and strong work ethic.
Available to work a 14/7 shift, can safely perform required duties during a 12+ hour workday that will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
